5Ghz vs 2.4Ghz
oMost routers are dual band, meaning they broadcast older 2.4ghz wireless technology, as well as the newer 5ghz wireless technology. 5ghz supports faster speeds and is overall a better network to connect to, although it can be more prone to interference and will not shoot through walls and other surfaces as well. 2.4ghz won't support as high of bandwidth, but will travel through walls and surfaces easier. That being said, a weaker signal on 5G is still usually faster than a stronger connection on 2.4ghz. The best rule of thumb is to connect all devices to 5G, and move devices over to 2.4ghz as needed. Some older devices will not be compatible with 5G, and you will have to set them to the 2.4ghz network.
